Sulphur Light Yellow GC

Sulfur Yellow GC (also known as Sulfurized Yellowish GC, Vulcanized Dark Yellow 2G, and Sulfurized Yellow GCD) is a yellow-brown powder with a dye strength of 250%. Its shade closely matches the standard, with a strength of 100% ± 3% relative to the standard, and moisture content ≤ 5%. It is insoluble in water, mostly soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, forming a yellow precipitate upon dilution. The dyeing substance appears yellow in sodium sulfide, almost completely decolorizes in sodium hypochlorite solution, and turns dark orange in concentrated sulfuric acid.

Sulfur Yellow 2 – Usage Conditions

Sulfur Yellow 2 (Sulfur Yellow GC) is suitable for dyeing cotton, hemp, viscose, and vinylon.

Dyeing Process:

The dye should be combined with high-concentration dissolved sodium sulfide, then added to the dye bath. Stir and heat to ensure complete reduction and dissolution.

Slightly more sodium sulfide should be used during dyeing.

Due to slow oxidation, perboric acid treatment is recommended.

If treated with sodium dichromate solution, thorough washing, soaping, and rinsing after dyeing are essential. Failure to do so can result in color lightening, decreased fastness during high-temperature ironing, and poor dye uptake in lighter shades.

Dyeing Blended Fabrics:

When dyeing vinylon or cotton blends, the shade appears darker than on pure cotton, and leveling is less uniform.

A higher amount of oxidant is required for blended fabrics than for cotton.

Color Range:

Sulfur Yellow 2 is mainly used for medium and dark shades, such as grass green, turmeric, yellow-brown, dark brown, dark green, and dark gray.

Improving Light Fastness:

Dyeing sintered Yellow GC with copper sulfate, sodium dichromate, and acetic acid can improve light fastness, though the resulting color may appear slightly reddish.

Precautions

Sulfur Yellow 2 easily absorbs moisture, causing dehydration, agglomeration, and oxidative deterioration. It should be stored in a dry, ventilated environment, away from heat and humidity.

Sulfur Yellow 2 (Sulfur Yellow GC) is a banned dye in certain regions and can be replaced by Sulphide Yellow G.
